Transformer Bushings Manufacturer in India

Know About the Transformer Bushing Designs and Types

Transformer bushing designs are made specifically to suit the needs of the electrical transformers. As per the regulations set by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Standards, a transformer bushing is made keeping in mind the requirements and limitations. Most transformer bushing manufacturers in India try to follow the regulations while building the same.

Transformer bushing is a kind of insulating component which acts as a passage for carrying the current through the transformer. The conductor is present either at the bottom of the transformer or at the centre of the same. There are different types of bushings available with specific sets of properties designed to suit the needs of the transformers. Read on to know more about the bushing types and designs.

Types of Transformer Bushings

Transformer bushings are generally of three types: solid, ceramic, oil impregnated paper, silicone rubber insulator, and resin-impregnated paper. It would help if you cleaned, visually inspected and also inspected the temperature of the bushing to assure that the bushing is in working condition. Make sure that you clean off the dust from the bushings before you test the transformer.

To know more about the types of bushings, read on.

Solid Ceramic Bushings

These are made of the simplest designs with the central conductor, surrounded by the ceramic insulator. If the power demand is high, this type of bushing is a favourable option.

OIP Bushings

You’ll find the use of OIP bushings in the power transformers. They can be easily used because they are partially discharging free and durable. However, there can be risks associated with using OIP bushing. OIP bushings can easily fail, which would hamper the transformer’s working.

RIP Bushings

These bushings are made by combining a small amount of mineral oil along with the resin-impregnated paper. These are commonly used in high-voltage applications and can be easily used in ceramic and composite forms. The composite form of RIP bushing has gained much popularity over time.

SRI Bushings

If you’re not comfortable using ceramic bushings, then the option of SRI bushings is highly favourable for modern-day transformers. Using SRIs is a great option as it does not cause any damage or breakdown. However, SRIs cannot match the voltage changes of all types of transformers.
